Taj Umaid Bhavan Palace

THE PALACE EXPERIENCE

The magnificent Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur one of the world's largest private residences is a golden hued desert sandstone monument set amidst acres of verdant gardens. An imitable tribute to art deco, the Palace has in its luxurious fold 64 rooms and suites. Stroll through the private museum, test your skills on the marbled squash courts or enjoy a game of billiards in the panelled recreation room. Take an exhilarating drive through the enchanting city of Jodhpur in a vintage car, accompanied by your royal butler. Stop beneath the starry night sky for a divine grilled feast accompanied by the music of the desert. Experience the art of India's ancient healing wisdom in the romantic new setting of the Taj Spa.
In those long ago days of reign, languid afternoons and indigo nights, the Maharaja and his guests were waited upon, hand and foot, by the Palace butlers.
Heading the royal entourage of page boys, ladies in waiting and valets, the resourceful butler was a silent force, fulfilling his master's wishes before they were voiced, heeding his master's voice seemingly before it even passed his lips.
The direct descendents of these Palace retainers are here to look after your needs and can be summoned with a quick call to Palace Services. They will draw a soothing bath, recommend the perfect meal or help you choose an ideal treatment at the Spa. Will pinpoint the best sights to see, or artifacts to treasure, and the best hunting grounds. They will plan a wondrous day out, and, if you like, accompany you bearing cold towels, iced drinks and a picnic lunch or caviar and a bottle of Pommery.
Throughout your stay, discreetly and unobtrusively, your butler will gladly guide you through the pleasures that lie within and without the Palace walls, no task too insignificant, no demand too unreasonable.
