Every year, Gujarat celebrates more than 2,000 festivals. The International Kite Festival (Uttarayan) is regarded as one of the biggest festivals celebrated.Months before the festival, homes in Gujarat begin to manufacture kites for the festival.
The festival of Uttarayan marks the day when winter begins to turn into summer, according to the Indian calendar. It is the sign for farmers that the sun is back and that harvest season is approaching which is called Makar Sankranti. This day is considered to be one of the most important harvest day in India. Many cities in Gujarat organize kite competition between their citizens where the people all compete with each other. In this region of Gujarat and many other states, Uttarayan is such a huge celebration that it has become a public holiday in India for two days. During the festival, local food such as Undhiyu (a mixed vegetable including yam and beans), sesame seed brittle and Jalebi is served to the crowds.Days before the festival, the market is filled with participants buying their supplies. In 2012, the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat mentioned that the International Kite Festival in Gujarat was attempting to enter the Guinness World Records book due to the participation of 42 countries in it that year.

 

DAY 01 ARRIVE IN RAJKOT – GIR NATIONAL PARK - (Distance – 165KM)

Arrival At Rajkot Airport/ / railway station. Meet & Greet  by your chauffer and transfer to you hotel in Gir. Overnight stay in the resort at Gir.

 

DAY 02  GIR NATIONAL PARK

Early morning drive to the jungle for lion tracking and bird watching on the Gir wildlife park tour. The Gir forest visits lasts for about three hours. Return back to the resort for having breakfast & lunch. One can also opt to walk around the surroundings or bird-watch. Afternoon drive back to the Gir reserve for wildlife viewing. Those interested in herpetology can visit the crocodile breeding farm at Sasan. Overnight stay at Resort  at  Gir.

 

DAY 03 : GIR NATIONAL PARK  

Early morning drive to the jungle for lion tracking and bird watching on the Gir wildlife park tour. The Gir forest visits lasts for about three hours. Return back to the resort for having breakfast & lunch. One can also opt to walk around the surroundings or bird-watch. Afternoon drive back to the Gir reserve for wildlife viewing. DAY 04 :GIR NATIONAL PARK – AHMEDABAD - (Distance – 365KM )

Early morning check out and drive toward Ahmedbad (06-07 Hours).On Arrival  Check inn Hotel. Rest of the day is free at Leisure. Overnight stay at Hotel

 

DAY 05 : AHMEDABAD  

After Breakfast today enjoy Kite Festival. Kite flying is one of the most popular sports and festival in India. According to the Greek literature, kite-flying dates back to as old as 14th century and later came to India and other Asian countries. Kite Festival in India is popular the worldwide and celebrated with great fun and fervor. Watching the colorful sky during the kite festival is indeed a feast to the eyes. The Kite Festival, which is held in the month of January on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Expert kite fliers from not only India but all over the world come here to participate in the kite flying festival and display their kite flying skills.  Overnight stay at Hotel 

 

DAY 06 : AHMEDABAD - DEPARTURE 

After Breakfast today check out at appropriate time and transfer to Ahmedabad Station / Airport for your return on onward journey

Day 01 :  Bhuj – Mandvi

Arrival at Bhuj Airport and transfer to Mandvi, . Arrive at Mandvi and check in at Hotel  Mandvi is a picturesque town with many old buildings. It was an important port of the Jadeja Rajputs, who claim descent from Lord Krishna. They are said to moved to Sindh when Krishna’s capital, Dwarka, was submerged by the sea. In the 1540s, the Jadejas became ruler of Kutch. Times were turbulent until the arrival of the British who brought the kingdoms under their umbrella. Mandvi is also interesting for watching and photographing birds like the flamingos, godwits, sandpipers, gulls. Day 02 : Mandvi - Tent City

Day 03 : Tent City - Bhuj

Early Morning Enjoy the stunning sunrise at White Rann. Later check out from the hotel and  proceed to Bhuj. Bhuj, the major town of Kutch, is an old walled city- in the past the city gates were locked each night from dusk to dawn. You can lose yourself for hours in the intricate maze-like streets and alleyways of this fascinating town. There are walls within walls, attractive crenellated gateways, old palaces with intricately carved wooden pavilions, and striking, brightly decorated Hindu temples. Bhuj resembles much of India before the tourist invasion, and you're much more likely to come across that disarming hospitality which was once the hallmark of rural India . Day 04 : Departure from Bhuj

After breakfast check out from the hotel and Visit Aina Mahal, Prag Mahal, and  Swaminarayan Mandir.Later proceed to Bhuj Airport / Railway station to  Board the train/flight for your home town. Tour concludes.

DAY 03: GIR NATIONAL PARK – GONDAL - (Distance – 130KM)
Early morning drive to the jungle for lion tracking and bird watching on the Gir  wildlife park tour. Return back to the resort for having breakfast & lunch. Late afternoon drive to Gondal. Gondal. Upon reaching, you shall be transferred to your hotel for check-in at Orchard Palace. The Orchard Palace was built as an annex of the Huzoor Palace, the family residence, in the late-19th century to host personal guests of the Maharajas. Converted into a seven-room heritage hotel, it is appointed with 1930s and ‘40s art deco furniture, antiques and  handicrafts. The property gets its name from the lime, chikoo and mango groves it faces to the rear. More than 80 peacocks and peahens inhabit the gardens, and a variety of other birds can be watched while walking around the grounds.
One of the highlights of the palace is the Rail Saloon of the royal family of Gondal. This saloon has been converted into a suite for a couple or a family to   stay with drawing room, dining room and bedroom, beautifully finished with  inlaid wood, and English washrooms with a telephonic shower.
In the evening, you shall visit a site that has a huge collection of vintage cars. You shall also be taken to the Bhuvaneswary Ayurvedic Library, where you will be initiated with the process of making the centuries old Ayurvedic medicines. Overnight stay at the hotel.

 

DAY 04: GONDAL  - DASADA – LITTLE RANN OF KUTCH (Distance – 220KM)
After having breakfast we check out and proceed for Dasada which is small Dasada is a small village occupied mainly by farmers, nomadic cattle herders and artisans. It is situated on the outskirts of the Rann of Kutch, a vast salt marsh that spans 30,000 square kilometers.Dasada is the perfect base from which to explore the Rann of Kutch, the last refuge in India of the Asiatic Wild Ass, an elegant member of the horse family. In winter it is also home to migratory birds such as flamingoes, MacQueen's Bustard etc.Overnight Stay at Rann Ridder / Desert Coursers.

 

DAY 05: DASADA – LITTLE RANN OF KUTCH– AHMEDABAD (Distance – 90KM)
After breakfast we enjoy Horse safaris (OPTIONAL), organized by Rann Riders, are a unique experience that enables you to enjoy both the thrill of cross-country riding with opportunities to watch wildlife and meet local communities. You can choose from short riding trips exploring villages and settlements near Rann Riders or a long distance horse safari during which you can see bird-rich lakes and ride past desert wildlife like the endangered Asiatic wild ass. Arrangements for the safaris include an escort rider from the local villages, food, camping arrangements, folk entertainment and sightseeing.

Dasada has a long history of keeping high quality horses. The ancestors of the owners of Rann Riders led a cavalry of 12,000 horses during the reign of Sultan Muhammad Bhegada in the 15th century AD. During the British colonial period, Dasada was known for its fine horses.Keeping alive the historic legacy of Dasada, Stables at Rannriders is successfully breeding indigenous breeds of horses. These horses are attractive in appearance with an arched neck, a longish head, wide-set and alert eyes crowned by lovely long eyelashes, a shapely mouth and lyre shaped ears almost meeting at their tips over the proud heads. These horses at Rann Riders have consistently won prizes at horse shows held in recent years.  Later  return back to Hotel and proceed to Ahmedabad.On arrival check inn at hotel Overnight at Hotel. 

 

DAY 06: AHMEDABAD – DEPARTURE
After Breakfast transfer to Ahmedabad Station / Airport for your return / onward flight/ train back to home destination
